UIDAI to Launch New e-Aadhaar App with AI and Face ID: Update Personal Details Online Easily

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is preparing to roll out a brand-new e-Aadhaar mobile application equipped with advanced digital features. Unlike the existing mAadhaar app, which has limited functions and often receives complaints from users, the upcoming version promises a smoother, faster, and more secure experience. The launch is expected by December 2025, giving citizens a modern tool to manage their Aadhaar details without visiting enrollment centers for most updates.

What Makes the New e-Aadhaar App Different?

The upcoming application is designed to integrate modern technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Face ID login, and QR code verification. With these upgrades, logging into the app will become as simple as scanning your face. The inclusion of a built-in QR scanner will also help organizations and service providers instantly verify Aadhaar details, reducing the risks of identity fraud.

Users will be able to:

• Update personal details like name, address, and date of birth online.

• Download their Aadhaar card directly from the app.

• Check their update history anytime.

• Order a PVC Aadhaar card for home delivery.

This shift will significantly cut down the need for photocopies and paperwork since Aadhaar information can be shared securely through the app itself.

Why Mobile Number Updates Remain Offline

While the new app brings digital convenience, not every feature is moving online. UIDAI has clarified that changing the mobile number linked to Aadhaar will still require a visit to an Aadhaar Seva Kendra. This is because mobile numbers are closely tied to banking services, government benefits, and digital transactions. To prevent misuse, biometric verification and a formal update request will still be mandatory for number changes.

Beta Version Already Tested

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had launched the beta version of the app earlier in April 2025. Since then, UIDAI has been collecting feedback from early users to iron out bugs and improve the interface. The full public release is scheduled for the end of this year.
