Patna (Bihar) [India], October 10 (ANI): Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Prem Chand Gupta backed party leader and Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, on his promise to ensure government jobs in every household in the state if voted to power.
"What no party has done till date, Tejashwi Yadav will get done, and the party has studied this matter in a very scientific manner... As Tejashwi Yadav has said, in 20 months they will do what they (Nitish Kumar) couldn't do in 20 years," Prem Chand Gupta said.
However, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sanjay Mayuk slammed Tejashwi Yadav, saying that elections cannot be won on false promises.
"Was he asleep? Mother, father, himself, and his sister have all wielded power. Why didn't you remember it then? Now you remember this. When they themselves are unemployed, the people of Bihar have shown them the door from power. His father used to lie, and he is doing it too. Elections can't be won on false promises. The people of Bihar are watching everything. The people of Bihar will give a befitting reply to the lies he constantly tells for power," the BJP leader told ANI.
The statement follows Yadav's announcement on Thursday that, within 20 days of the formation of the Mahagathbandhan government, it will pass a law ensuring a government job for every household in Bihar.
"We are announcing today that in every family in Bihar where no one currently holds a government job, a new legislation will be enacted to ensure employment. Within 20 days of forming the government, this law will be passed, and within 20 months, every family without a government job will have at least one member employed in government service. Tejashwi will ensure that no household in Bihar is left without a government job," Yadav said while addressing a press conference in Patna.
Tejashwi also mentioned that he provided five lakh government jobs during his 17-month tenure previously, slamming the government by stating that the people who used to mock his party regarding unemployment are receiving unemployment allowances.
"There's no need for Tejashwi to prove his credibility -- the results speak for themselves. In just 17 months, we worked to provide 5 lakh jobs, with appointment letters handed over for 3.5 lakh of them. Now, the same people who once mocked us are talking about giving unemployment allowances, not actual jobs," he said.
The promise comes ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, which are scheduled to be held in two phases on November 6 and November 11. The result will be out on November 14. (ANI)
