New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a meeting of chief ministers and deputy chief ministers of NDA-ruled states on May 25, where Operation Sindoor and the political situation in its aftermath may come up for discussion, sources said.
Top NDA leaders, including Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar are likely to attend the meeting. Top Union Ministers Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah are expected to attend the meeting.
The BJP is trying to project Operation Sindoor as a victory of the armed forces. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at the cabinet meeting, had recommended his cabinet colleagues to refrain from political commentary and from getting into a political slugfest.
A senior BJP leader said that the prime minister, during his address to the nation, talked about all political parties and national unity, which itself conveys that the BJP doesn't want to politicise Operation Sindoor.
The BJP would make it clear to its allies that the cease fire was reached out between India and Pakistan bilaterally, sources said.
The BJP is also reaching out to its grass roots workers to convey the message that Operation Sindoor was meant only to target terrorists in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir and not to attack the armed forces of any other nation.
Within the BJP, there is also a view that it is necessary that India enhances its economic strength and be seen as a better alternative to China amid the ongoing trade tussle. To achieve this, a long drawn out war may not serve the purpose and limited kinetic action against terrorists is desired -- a messaging which the party wants to make its workers and sympathisers understand.
