If Ruben Amorim gets his way, Manchester United could be transformed over the summer transfer window. Amorim has endured a largely awful reign so far, winning just six of his 26 games in charge.
While he has led the Red Devils to the final of the , their dire performance in the top-flight has attracted widespread criticism. Club legend believes that Amorim himself is seeking to move on 50 percent of his squad.
The ex-United defender said on his Rio Presents podcast: "I think he looks around the dressing room and thinks, 'If I could wave a magic wand, in the next five years at least 50 percent of this team wouldn't be here.'
"They're not good enough and they're not right for the way he wants to play. I look at him and think that he needs, minimum, two good windows of getting rid of the ones he doesn't require but also getting in players that he really needs.
"He needs to recruit dynamic athletes. I don't want no mavericks, or players that are frilly and can do pirouettes. No, no, people that can run past and over people as well.”

In a dream where that change progresses quickly this summer, United would look totally different from this season's under-performers. That change would start in goal, where Andre Onana has been desperately disappointing.
Lille star Lucas Chevalier has emerged as a target, having helped his side to likely European qualification and broken into the France national team squad this season. With two years on his contract, Chevalier is available for around £33.7million.
The defence would be largely unchanged, with a first-choice back three of Leny Yoro, Matthijs De Ligt and Lisandro Martinez emerging once the Argentine returns from his long-term injury.
At right wing-back, Noussair Mazraoui should be given a clean run at the position, with January signing Patrick Dorgu out on the left. In central midfield, Amorim will hope Manuel Ugarte can recover from a difficult debut season to cement his spot.
In a dream scenario, alongside him would be a new face in Adam Wharton. The England international has impressed for since arriving 18 months ago, earning a ticket to Euro 2024.
He still has four years to run on his contract so a move would be expensive, though Amorim is understood have greenlighted a pursuit of the 21-year-old. In attacking midfield, captain would take one of the two No.10 spots.
The other could be occupied by Matheus Cunha, who looks set to leave this summer. United are the current frontrunners to sign the Brazilian, who has a £62.5m release clause in his contract.
The final new face comes at striker, with a new forward badly needed after the troubles of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee. Liam Delap is Amorim's top target and he could be available for a cut-price fee with Ipswich having been relegated.
Potential Manchester United line-up: Lucas Chevalier; Leny Yoro, Matthijs De Ligt, Lisandro Martinez; Noussair Mazraoui, Manuel Ugarte, Adam Wharton, Patrick Dorgu; Bruno Fernandes, Matheus Cunha; Liam Delap
