On the occasion of National Sports Day 2025, the spotlight has turned toward India’s richest cricket coaches, who have earned both fame and fortune through their contributions to the game. Former Indian captain Rahul Dravid, widely known as “The Wall,” tops the list with a staggering net worth of around ₹320 crore. Dravid, who took over as Team India’s head coach in November 2021, guided the side to several memorable achievements, including the T20 World Cup victory in 2024 after a gap of 17 years. He stepped down soon after this triumph, concluding a successful three-year tenure.
During his stint as head coach, the BCCI paid Dravid an annual salary of ₹12 crore, making him the highest-paid cricket coach in the world, surpassing even top international players. His earnings were significantly higher than his predecessors, with Ravi Shastri reportedly drawing ₹9.5 crore annually. Even stalwarts like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma earned less from their BCCI contracts compared to Dravid’s coaching package.
Apart from coaching, Dravid also earns from endorsements and his association with Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, where he reportedly receives around ₹3 crore per season. His wealth portfolio includes a lavish house worth ₹4.2 crore in Bengaluru’s Koramangala and a fleet of luxury cars, including a Porsche 911 Carrera, Audi Q5, and Mercedes-Benz GLE 350.
Following Dravid, current Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir also enjoys an impressive financial profile. Gambhir, who succeeded Dravid in 2024, draws an annual salary of about ₹12 crore and has an estimated net worth of ₹265 crore. Earlier, Anil Kumble and Ravi Shastri, despite being among the top-paid coaches of their time, earned less than Dravid and Gambhir in comparison.
These figures highlight how coaching has evolved into one of the most lucrative roles in cricket, with former players now commanding salaries that rival or even exceed those of current stars.
