New Delhi: Amit Shah has been Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s close aide and confidant for three decades. A great admirer, too.
In an interview with NDTV, the Union Home minister lauded the Prime Minister’s strong work ethic and claimed he is the only leader not to have taken a single holiday in the last 24 years.
“I have seen only one person who hasn’t taken a holiday in the last 24 years, and that is Prime Minister Narendra Modi… That kind of dedication doesn’t just happen, it reflects a mindset of complete devotion to public service,” said Shah.
The Home minister hailed Modi as the most popular prime minister India has ever seen.
“India and the world believe that PM Modi is the most popular prime minister so far. PM Modi has been the longest-serving when it comes to being a prime minister and a chief minister,” Shah said.
Shah went on to claim that PM Modi has given India’s foreign policy “a spine” that it lacked earlier.
“When historians will compare different PMs, I strongly believe they’ll find that the biggest achievements have been under PM Modi’s tenure. India’s foreign policy was spineless earlier. It’s Modi who gave a spine to it,” Shah said.
Tracing his leader’s career path, Shah said Modi had risen from being a party worker at the local level to becoming a national leader of Bharatiya Janata Party, then chief minister of Gujarat, and then the most popular Prime Minister of India.
Modi served as Gujarat CM from October 2001 to May 2014, before being sworn in as India’s Prime Minister. He is currently in his third term.
