Carlos Alcaraz is already back in action at this weekend's Laver Cup, two weeks after he lifted the US Open trophy. Aged just 22, the Spaniard has now won six Grand Slam titles, and he seems to just be getting started.
Alcaraz has a long way to go before he can reach the heights of the Big Three. Roger Federer claimed 20 Majors during his career, while Rafael Nadal won 22, and Novak Djokovic currently holds 24. The Serbian superstar is still on the hunt for a record 25th Major, but tennis fans now believe Alcaraz could be the one to make history.
Djokovic has not won a Major in more than two years, with his 24th title coming in Flushing Meadows back in 2023. This season, he reached the semi-finals of all four Grand Slam tournaments, but he couldn't go any further.
At the Australian Open, he retired injured after losing a close first set to Alexander Zverev. Jannik Sinner beat him in the French Open and Wimbledon semis, and it was Alcaraz who ended his run in New York.
Djokovic has made it no secret that he's still motivated to lift a historic 25th Grand Slam trophy, but it's getting harder with Alcaraz and Sinner in his way. And fans have now tipped the Spanish star to end his career with a record tally.
Asked how many Major titles Alcaraz would have by the time he retired, 36 per cent of Express Sport readers backed him to win 25 or more. Another 29 per cent thought he would finish with 16 to 20.
Almost everyone agreed that the 22-year-old would at least hit double digits, as only three per cent claimed Alcaraz would finish with fewer than 10 Grand Slam titles. And 16 per cent thought he would claim 10 to 15 Slams, while another 16 per cent went for 20 to 24 Majors.
Alcaraz is already motivated to win his seventh in Melbourne at the start of next season and complete the career Grand Slam.
The Australian Open is the only Major tournament he's not been able to win, and he's never even been beyond the quarter-finals.
After his US Open triumph, Alcaraz explained: "It's my first goal, to be honest. When I just go to the pre-seasons to what I want to improve, what I want to achieve, Australian Open is there.
"It's the first or second tournament of the year, and it is always the main goal for me to complete a career Grand Slam, calendar Grand Slam. So it's going to be great."
