Grey's Anatomy fans have issued the same demand after an unexpected character return.

The hit medical drama has made its long-awaited comeback for season 22 after a dramatic cliffhanger concluded last season, leaving multiple beloved characters facing peril.

Paediatric surgeon Monica Beltran (Natalie Morales) sadly died following a gas explosion at Grey Sloan Memorial.

Monica's departure wasn't the only major development this season as a prominent star has made a comeback to the hospital in a guest role.

One Tree Hill star Sophia Bush delighted audiences last week (October 23) when she made a thrilling return to Grey's, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Sophia's character, Cass Beckman, notably encountered her former fling Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) in the hospital lift. The duo subsequently had an awkward conversation in front of Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington) as Teddy claimed she remained with her ex-husband, Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd).

Grey's fans will recall that Teddy and Cass enjoyed a brief romance last season whilst both were in open marriages, but eventually parted on complicated terms.

Following the official conclusion of her relationship with Owen, Teddy asked Cass on a spontaneous date in her new car last week, with the two soon exchanging a passionate kiss.

The romance appears set to intensify tonight (30 October), with the pair spotted sharing a kiss in bed in a preview clip, moments before encountering Owen outside the hospital.

Grey's viewers have continued expressing their joy following Sophia's comeback, with many voicing their enthusiasm across social media platforms.

"The writers know what they are doing with Cass and Teddy. Now I need them to have Sophia Bush sign on as a recurring or regular because CASS AND TEDDY NEED TO BE ENDGAME," one viewer posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Another commented: "Sophia is back in Grey's Anatomy and Cass and Teddy are back too. Now I might actually start watching the series again."

A third remarked: "Crying. Screaming. They are so insane for this. We won guys."

A fourth supporter mirrored the enthusiasm, stating: "I am LIVINGGGG for Sophia Bush on #GreysAnatomy omg. Cass and Teddy have soo much chemistry," whilst others called on programme executives to make Sophia a permanent cast member.

Cass isn't the only character making a return this season, as Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) is scheduled to make his eagerly awaited return this week following his departure as a main cast member in season 17.
