Loose Women fans were left stunned by Janet Street-Porter's real age ahead of her surgery. During Monday's (September 22) edition of the hit ITV programme, Janet was joined on the panel by Ruth Langsford, Kelly Brook and Jane Moore. Later on in the show, the group spoke about challenges they've set themselves after Harry Styles recently ran the Berlin marathon under a fake name.
Janet, who is 78 years old, spoke about her personal goals, which have changed over the years. "When I was young, I set myself the challenge to go out two nights in a row every single week," she began.
"And now, I set myself another challenge which is not to drink alcohol three nights running. But then I kind of revised my challenges to, 'Can I go out, at 78, three nights in a row, have I got stamina?'"
Janet then said that her "serious challenge" was to balance on one leg while brushing her teeth. This comes shortly before the star's upcoming right knee replacement.
"Lots of physiotherapists tell you that it's really good for you... I might try it but I'm feeling a bit wobbly this morning," Janet explained, before trying to balance live in the studio.
After giving the task a try, Janet returned to her seat and revealed the importance of balancing as you get older, saying: "It is serious. When you get older, you should try balancing on one leg."
Ruth added: "They say that's why so many more mature people, Janet, I nearly said elderly then, when people have falls they lose their sense of balance. Anything that you can test and challenge.

"That's what I'm doing, challenging my core strength. I haven't tried the standing on one leg doing my teeth yet though. Maybe I'll do that in the break."
After watching the discussion, several of the show's viewers quickly took to social media to share their surprise at Janet's age. "I really struggle to believe Janet is almost 80 years old," one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Another added: "Janet looks so good!" while a third said: "How is Janet 78 years old?"
Janet notably had a left knee replacement back in 2018. She then had a hip replacement last year, which forced her to take a short break from Loose Women. Prior to the operation, the presenter revealed that her hip damage was so "painful and depressing" to live with that she was unable to eat or sleep.
Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 12.30pm
