A simple argument about behaviour between a mother and son descended into a nightmare when the young boy turned on her and stabbed her to death, according to police. Shortly before the horrific incident unfolded, shopkeeper Caline Arruda dos Santos is said to have asked her son to stop playing in the street.
Afterwards, at the boy's stepfather's home, she apparently warned her son that she would inform a relative about his behaviour, the Civil Police report states, via Brazilian news site, Metropoles. At this point, the boy allegedly went into the kitchen, grabbed a knife and hid it under the long sleeve of his T-shirt. Caline and her eldest son, 19, were at the front door when he allegedly approached and stabbed her in the abdomen. But, according to one witness, the mother issued her young son a heartbreaking final request before being rushed to hospital.
According to the witness, Caline said: "Come here and give me one last hug, because I won't survive."
She was then rushed to A&E by a neighbour, from where she was transferred to Parelheiros Hospital in Brazil. However, she was tragically pronounced dead on arrival.
Due to the law in Brazil, as the young boy is under 12, he was not taken to the police station because he cannot be prosecuted by the Children's Court. He currently remains in the car of a cousin of the victim.
In an interview, the relative said that the 9-year-old boy apparently had not yet "realised" what he had done. "He knows his mother died after another boy told him so," she said.
The horrific event occurred on Rua Gaspar Leme, in Parelheiros, south of São Paulo, and the Civil Police are still investigating the case.
This news comes after a horrific stabbing in Uxbridge, London, which saw a 49-year-old man killed and two more injured, including a 14-year-old boy. Using a taser, police officers arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of murder and attempted murder at the scene. It has been suggested that the young man arrested is an Afghan national.
Elsewhere, two teens were allegedly stabbed with a metal fork by a passenger aboard a Lufthansa flight from Chicago to Frankfurt. He also slapped a female passenger and gestured suicide during the unprovoked attacks that led pilots to make an emergency landing in Boston on Saturday.
