Peace lilies, known for their low-maintenance nature, are generally easy to care for with regular watering. However, during the summer months, simply watering these houseplants is not enough; they need to be moved away from windowsills to maintain their health.
While it's common to place plants near windows for light, peace lilies are sensitive and too much sunlight can burn their leaves, causing their flowers to turn brown and wilt. Instead, horticultural expert and founder of Gardeners Dream, Craig Wilson, suggests moving peace lilies to a more humid area in your home.
Craig said: "Peace lilies need watering, but not nearly as much as you might expect. Normally, it is best to water your peace lily every few days, with the plant even being tolerant to being watered less often if it is kept somewhere humid in the house like the bathroom."

Peace lilies are tropical plants that thrive on jungle floors in their natural habitat, surviving by absorbing moisture from the warm, humid air.
This is why it's much better to place a peace lily in a corner of your bathroom, or perhaps the kitchen, where the warm steam helps maintain their hydration and vitality.
Peace lilies in their natural jungle habitat receive filtered, gentle sunlight that passes through massive tree canopies, which is why it's best to position them near but not directly in front of windows.
Craig said: "It is best not to leave peace lilies by external doors or windows because the plants don't do well in exposed conditions."
Too much direct sunlight or dry air can damage a peace lily's ability to produce flowers, so taking time to move them to a location that better replicates their natural environment will promote blooming.
However, if there's no room for a peace lily in your bathroom or kitchen then don't worry as frequently occupied areas of the home also provide adequate humidity levels.
People release small amounts of water vapour whilst breathing, so you can just as easily place a peace lily in your bedroom or sitting room to help it flourish.
Where feasible, find an area of your home that gets abundant morning light, as peace lilies prefer the gentler rays rather than the harsher afternoon sunshine.
Rooms with east-facing windows usually receive the most natural light during morning periods as the sun rises, making them typically the perfect spot for placing a peace lily.
If you take a quick moment to move peace lilies to a more appropriate location in your home, then you're more likely to see extra blooms on your peace lily that will flower for much longer durations.
