The UK is still full of tiny, picturesque towns, despite the expansion of its urban centres. One has been dubbed the prettiest and most isolated, with the nearest supermarket around 40 minutes away. Because of its charm - including an unspoilt coastline, picturesque beaches, opportunities to spot bottlenose dolphins and seals, and connections to poet Dylan Thomas - New Quay in Ceredigion has become a sought-after destination for tourists, with the wider Ceredigion thought to host nearly 3million annually.
The area's website states: "New Quay is a beautiful fishing village situated in Ceredigion on the West Coast of Wales, popular with tourists and is an excellent family location with its picturesque harbour and sandy beach and an ideal base to use for exploring the West Wales coastal area." It adds: "The area is also still significantly used in employment for sea fishing and fish processing, and is ideally located for the annual Cardigan Bay Regatta, which usually takes place in August.

"The Regatta includes events such as rowing and swimming, dinghy and cruiser racing and has been a feature in the area since before 1870."
However, Walesonline reports that living in the town has been described as a double-edged sword, as its 1,045 residents face a long trip to a major supermarket.
New Quay has a Costcutters and a nearby Morrisons Daily.
But it is a 20-mile trip to visit the nearest major supermarket - Tesco or Aldi in Cardigan.
Meanwhile, the closest railway station is 40 minutes away in Aberystwyth, whose university draws students from across the world.
New Quay came to prominence in the early 19th century after its stone pier was built, and trade, including shipbuilding, increased.

Later, after 1870, this stopped, but many remnants of the industry can still be observed.
At one time, more than 300 workers were employed in shipbuilding in New Quay and the surrounding area.
The town is also famous for its honey farm, which is the largest bee farm in Wales.
House prices are above the UK average in the area, with Rightmove saying properties in New Quay tend to have gone for a mean price of £302,500 over the last year.
The majority sold during the last year were detached properties, selling for an average price of £404,500. Terraced properties sold for an average of £280,500, with semi-detached properties fetching £145,000.
Overall, the historical sold prices in New Quay over the last year were 4% down on the previous year and 2% down on the 2019 peak of £309,750.
