Thunderstorms render 1000 homeless in Tripura in 2 days

Agartala: Over 1,000 people were rendered homeless while 1,835 houses were damaged in last two days across Tripura due to thunderstorms and gusty winds. The govt had to open four relief camps to shelter displaced families in West Tripura, which is the worst-hit among eight districts.

According to reports, heavy rain and thunderstorms caused damage to 51 houses fully, 614 severely, and 1,145 partially in Mohanpur. Four houses in Jirania of West Tripura were partly damaged.

The IMD has issued an Orange Warning for the next three days in Tripura, forecasting continued heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning.
