NEW DELHI: Former Shiv Sena MLA Sada Sarvankar stirred controversy after a viral video showed him claiming he secures more funds for his constituency than the sitting legislator.
Sarvankar, according to news agency PTI, told a gathering, "the incumbent MLA gets Rs 2 crore, but even when I am not an MLA and I get Rs 20 crore."
When contacted, he clarified that he was referring to the funds he manages to bring into the Dadar-Mahim constituency , contrasting it with Sawant’s complaints of inadequate resources.
A key figure in the 2022 rebellion, Sarvankar was among the 39 MLAs who sided with Eknath Shinde against then chief minister Uddhav Thackeray .
Sarvankar, who heads the Siddhivinayak Trust, had lost the 2024 Maharashtra assembly election to Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Mahesh Sawant.
